Activities

  1. First, view the motion of the blue object. Then, use the sliders to adjust the initial position, initial velocity, and acceleration of the red object so the horizontal motion of the red object matches that of the blue object, and the two position as a function of time graphs also match.
  2. Once you have matched the motions, predict what the velocity and acceleration graphs look like for the two objects. You can get nice straight-line graphs by sliding the end-points of the red lines up or down. Once you think you have the graphs, use the "Show Answers" button to see if you are correct.
  3. Re-set the simulation to get a new motion for the blue object, and repeat the process.
  4. Keep going until it becomes very easy for you.
